He was born in 1988 in Paris and grew up in Rome.

He received a Diploma in Classical Saxophone from the Conservatorio di Santa Cecilia in 2009 under the guidance of Alfredo Santoloci and in 2012 he obtained a Master's Degree in Contemporary Improvisation from the New England Conservatory under the guidance of Anthony Coleman, Hankus Netsky and Frank Carlberg.

During his stay in the US and until his return to Europe in 2014, he performed and recorded with musicians such as Matt Moran, Anthony Coleman, Joe Morris, Matt Darriau, Satoshi Takeshi, Hayden Chisholm and Axel Dörner.

In 2016 he moved to Greece to study Classical Ottoman Music and Oud with Eugene Voulgaris. Since then, he has participated in the musical ensembles of Eugene Voulgaris, Themis Atzakas and James Wylie, as well as in several groups such as People of the wind (with Alexandros Rizopoulos) and Rodakina (with Avgerini Gatsis, Maria Plouri and Evi Kanellou).

Γεννήθηκε το 1988 στο Παρίσι και μεγάλωσε στη Ρώμη. 

Το 2009 πήρε Δίπλωμα στο Κλασικό Σαξόφωνο από το Conservatorio di Santa  Cecilia υπό την καθοδήγηση του Αlfredo Santoloci και το 2012 αποκτά  Μεταπτυχιακό Τίτλο Σπουδών στο Contemporary Improvisation από το New England  Conservatory υπό την καθοδήγηση των Anthony Coleman, Hankus Netsky και Frank Carlberg.

Κατά την παραμονή του στην Αμερική και μέχρι την επιστροφή του στην Ευρώπη το  2014, έκανε συναυλίες και ηχογραφήσεις με μουσικούς όπως Matt Moran, Anthony  Coleman, Joe Morris, Matt Darriau, Satoshi Takeshi, Hayden Chisholm και Axel  Dörner.

Το 2016 μετακομίζει στην Ελλάδα, με σκοπό να μελετήσει Κλασική Οθωμανική  Μουσική και Ούτι με τον Ευγένιο Βούλγαρη. Από τότε συμμετέχει στα μουσικά  σύνολα του Ευγενίου Βούλγαρη, του Θήμιου Ατζακά και του James Wylie αλλά και σε αρκετά συγκροτήματα, όπως: People of the wind (με τον Αλέξανδρο Ριζόπουλο)  και Ροδάκινα (με την Αυγερινή Γάτση, τη Μαρία Πλουμή και την Έυη Κανέλλου).

Stratis Skourkeas was born in Athens in 1987 and grew up in Mytilene, Lesvos. He graduated from the Folk and Traditional Music Department of the Technical University of Arta. He has been particularly interested in the music of the eastern Mediterranean, attending percussion seminars by the internationally renowned soloist Zohar Fresco and by distinguished Greek musicians such as Vangelis Karipis. At the same time, he has studied tropical and folk theory with Nikos Andrikos, while also studying the urban inter-war repertoire and Ottoman music.

Since 2006 he has participated in numerous concerts and albums in Greece and abroad and has collaborated with important representatives of traditional and art music. (Eleni Tsaligopoulou, Giannis Dionysiou, Solon Lekkas). Since 2012 he has been giving percussion lessons of Greek traditional music and Eastern Mediterranean music.

Ο Στρατής Σκουρκέας γεννήθηκε στην Αθήνα το 1987 και μεγάλωσε στη Μυτιλήνη Λέσβου. Αποφοίτησε από το τμήμα Λαϊκής και Παραδοσιακής μουσικής του Τ.Ε.Ι Άρτας. Έχει ασχοληθεί ιδιαίτερα με την μουσική της ανατολικής μεσογείου παρακολουθώντας σεμινάρια κρουστών από τον διεθνούς φήμης σολίστα Zohar Fresco αλλά και από διακεκριμένους Έλληνες μουσικούς όπως ο Βαγγέλης Καρίπης. Παράλληλα έχει διδαχθεί Τροπική και Λαϊκή θεωρία από τον Νίκο Ανδρίκο, μελετώντας το αστικό μεσοπολεμικό ρεπερτόριο και την Οθωμανική μουσική.

Από το 2006 μέχρι σήμερα συμμετέχει σε πλήθος συναυλιών και δίσκων στην Ελλάδα και στο εξωτερικό και έχει συνεργαστεί με σημαντικούς εκπροσώπους της παραδοσιακής και έντεχνης μουσικής. (Ελένη Τσαλιγοπούλου, Γιαννης Διονυσίου, Σόλων Λεκκας) Παράλληλα συμμετέχει ενεργά στη δισκογραφία. Από το 2012 παραδίδει μαθήματα κρουστών της Ελληνικής παραδοσιακής μουσικής και της Ανατολικής Μεσογείου.
