The lineup of Windcraft Music Fest 9 features winds in many different musical styles: from the atmospheric music of Gaba Project & Achilleas Tigas and Vassilis Philippou’s “Colourful Emptiness”, to People of the Wind & Yiannis Dionysiou and Stereoteismos unique approach to traditional Eastern music and from the exceptional jazz and world music fusion of La Pêche and Human Touch to the progressive sounds of Sonica & Toms Rudzinskis and Sustainable Resound, who mix acoustic with electronic elements. Moreover, the Windcraft Band returns with a rock attitude, presenting famous tunes with their brass sound, while the Windcraft Voices explore the musical traditions of the Mediterranean through acappella vocal arrangements.

Gaba Project is an innovative band by Vasilis Vasiliou and Christina Polycarpou which combines the mystifying timbre of the handpan with the rich sound of the Cretan lyra. At Windcraft Music Fest they will share the stage with Achilleas Tigas on traditional wind instruments and Nicolas Tryphonos on double bass.

People of the Wind is an explosive trio inspired largely by the ecstatic traditions of the zurna stretching from West Africa to the Far East. Their interpretation of traditional musics with the use of western instruments results in an innovative and exciting sound with rhythm and dance at its core. The band will be joined by Yiannis Dionysiou, who will skillfully interpret some traditional songs from Cyprus and Asia Minor.

At this year’s Windcraft Music Fest, the Cypriot powerhouse group Sonica unites with one of the Baltic’s leading saxophone players, Toms Rudzinskis, to present a new, previously unperformed repertoire as well as feature a few tunes form their debut album. Sonica’s new work combines the familiar, dark synth trance with elements of dance music, making it groovier than ever.
